How it works

Automated lecture recording takes four steps. No repeated intervention is needed.

1. Sign in

Sign in to the portal with your KIT account. Signing in is mandatory, because it is the only way recordings and series can be assigned to you.

Your event appears in the portal if you are listed in the campus management system as the person in charge or as a lecturer. Existing media from your Opencast series (for example from ILIAS) are shown as well.

2. Schedule the recording

Under “Schedule new recording” select your event in the column Recordable events and schedule it for recording (button or drag and drop). In the full view of the event you can activate and deactivate individual dates. If a date takes place in a room where automated recording is not possible, it is marked in colour.

3. Recording in the lecture hall

At the scheduled time the equipment in the lecture hall records the connected signals (picture and sound) by itself. Check beforehand that recording works with your laptop or device – see Rooms & equipment for notes.

4. Processing and publication

The recording is processed automatically and is then available in the portal under My media or Finished recordings. From there you can download the files, provide them in ILIAS, or embed them in other web pages with an embed code. More under Media.

If place or time change

If more than 24 hours remain until the recording, please report the change directly to the CAS Campus Portal. With less time, please also inform the recording team (contact: see Help & contact).
